Antoni Ligęza, Professor

Antoni Ligęza, Professor (ligeza@agh.edu.pl) : Graduated from Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics and Electronics (present: Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Informatics and Biomedical Engineering, EAIiIB), AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Poland; received M.Sc. in electronics/automatic control in 1980. After completing Doctors Studies he received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science (1983), and the habilitation (docent degree; polish: Dr habilitowany) in 1994 in Computer Science/Artificial Intelligence, both from the EAIiE Faculty at AGH. In 2006 he received the professor title from the President of Poland, prof. Lech Kaczyński.

His main research concerns Knowledge Engineering (Artificial Intelligence) including knowledge representation and inference methods, rule-based systems, automated plan generation, technical diagnostics, logics and logic programming, constraint programming and systems science. Some most important original research results include development of backward plan generation model (1983), independent discovery of dual resolution method for automated inference (1991), the concepts of granular sets and relations (2000), granular attributive logic (2003) , diagnostic inference models in the form of logical AND/OR/NOT causal graphs (1995) and Potential Conflict Structures (1996).

He was visiting researcher/professor at Technical University of Denmark, Lyngby (1988), LAAS, Toulouse, France (1992, 1996), Universite de Nancy I, France (1994), University of Balearic Islands, Spain (1994, 1995, 2005,2015), University of Girona, Spain (1996, 1997), and Universite de Caen, France (2004, 2005, 2007, 2016). He published (as author and co-author) more than 200 research papers, including  monograph Logical Foundations for Rule-Based Systems Springer, 2006 (author), and  Knowledge-Driven Computing, Springer, 2008 (co-editor and co-author). Member of IEEE Computer Society. Co-founder an former vice-president of the Polish Artificial Intelligence Society (PSSI). In years 2012-2016 Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Informatics and Biomedical Engineering at AGH, Kraków.

Krzysztof Kluza, PhD

Krzysztof Kluza, PhD (kluza@agh.edu.pl, www) is an assistant professor at Department of Applied Computer Science. Currently, he is Deputy Dean of the EAIiIB Faculty, AGH UST.

He obtained MSc in Automatics & Robotics (2009) at AGH UST, MA in Cultural Studies (2010) at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, and PhD in Computer Science (2015) at AGH UST.

He published over 80 papers related to knowledge and software engineering. His primary scientific interests focus on business processes and business rules in information systems.

He is an alumnus of „Top 500 Innovators” Science-Management-Commercialization program at Stanford University (2015). He also took part in the „Masters of Didactics” program at University College London (2018) and „Leaders in University Management” at University of Helsinki (2019). With Krystian Jobczyk, he had invited lectures at University of Buenos Aires (2019). He also took part in the Understanding China program in Beijing, organized by Beijing Foreign Studies University (2019).

Krystian Jobczyk, PhD

Krystian Jobczyk, PhD (jobczyk@agh.edu.pl), a KRaKEn group researcher with PhD in philosophy (2011) and PhD in Computer science (2017). In 2011-2013 he materialized his post-doctoral stay in Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy at LMU (Germany). The project was devoted to different methods of formal and philosophical improvement of Putnam’s anti-realism. In 2011-13 he spent his doctoral period at University of Caen Normandy (France) and – the next – at AGH University (2015-2017) – in a framework of the 'co-tutelle’ PhD-program. In 2020 he was granted the Fulbright Senior Award for 2020/2021 to perform a research project devoted to reactive model checking in the Saul Kripke Center at CUNY in New York.

His research interests cover such areas as: computational and mathematical logic, theoretical computer science, artificial intelligence (AI), formal epistemology and mathematical philosophy. He materializes his didactic activity mainly in the framework of the English-speaking specialty 'System Modeling and Data Analysis’. 

Weronika T. Adrian, PhD

Weronika T. Adrian, PhD (wta@agh.edu.pl, www) is an assistant professor at Department of Applied Computer Science, EAIiIB Faculty, AGH UST. She obtained her PhD from the University of Calabria (Italy), followed by a 2-year postdoctoral contract in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, in the group of Prof. Nicola Leone. Her research interests focus on semantic technologies, knowledge graphs and logic programming. She (co-)authored over 50 publications about KRR/KE methods and problems (see AGH BPP, GoogleScholar, Researcher ID and DBLP systems).

She has been involved in several national and international R&D projects: HeKatE, BIMLOQ, INDECT, Prosecco, Knowrex, S2BDW; and EU programs: Knowledge and Practice, it2edu, SPiN. She is a laureate of the first edition of “Top 500 Innovators” within which she completed a program on Science-Management-Commercialization at Stanford University. She co-founded the Creativity and Innovation Lab Foundation that promotes, develops and teaches methods of creativity and entrepreneurship.

Marek Adrian, PhD

Marek Adrian, PhD (madrian@agh.edu.pl) is an assistant professor at Department of Applied Computer Science, EAIiIB Faculty, AGH UST. He obtained an MSC degree in Mathematics (2009) at Jagiellonian University in Krakow and PhD in Computer Science (2017) at University of Calabria (Italy) followed by a 2-year postdoctoral contract with University of Milano – Bicocca. His research interests circle around game theory, Bayesian networks and other scientific ways of describing uncertainty and belief.

Piotr Wiśniewski, PhD

Piotr Wiśniewski, PhD (wpiotr@agh.edu.pl) is a member of the Kraken research group. He obtained MSc degrees in Automatics Control and Robotics (2014) and Computer Science (2016). He received his PhD at AGH UST in Information and Communication Technology (2019). He (co-)authored over 30 publications, most of them related to knowledge and software engineering. His scientific interests cover the areas of business process management, graph search, and constraint programming.

He participated in the “Transformation.doc” Soft Skills and Entrepreneurship programme at the Lund University (2015). Currently, he works as a consultant for a world-leading software company, designing and implementing Manufacturing Operations Management systems for industrial customers.

Bernadetta Stachura-Terlecka, MSc

Bernadetta Stachura-Terlecka, MSc (bstachur@agh.edu.pl) is a research assistant at the Department of Applied Computer Science, EAIiIB Faculty, AGH UST.






Mateusz Ślażyński, MSc

Mateusz Ślażyński, MSc (mslaz@agh.edu.pl) is a research assistant at the Department of Applied Computer Science, EAIiIB Faculty, AGH UST. He obtained MSc degree in Computer Science (2013) at AGH UST and BSc in Philosophy (2012) at Jagiellonian University. His primary research interests are hyper- and meta-heuristic algorithms and their connection with various knowledge representation methods.

Outside academia, he actively works in the industry, both as a self-sustained entrepreneur and an R&D consultant in the area of Operations Research and Machine Learning problems.  



Dominik Sepioło, MSc

Dominik Sepioło, MSc (sepiolo@agh.edu.pl) received his master degree (2020) in computer science from the AGH University of Science and Technology, with a specialization in Intelligent Systems. He is currently PhD Student interested in Explainable Artificial Intelligence and Time Series Analysis.

Outside academia he has gained experience in Data Science working for ABB and Teranalytics.









Paweł Jemioło, MSc

Paweł Jemioło, MSc (pawljmlo@agh.edu.pl, home.agh.edu.pl/pawljmlo/) is a PhD student and a research assistant at the AGH UST, EAIiIB Faculty, Department of Applied Computer Science. He received his MSc degree (2018) in Computer Science and BSc degree (2017) in Automatic Control and Robotics at AGH University of Science and Technology. Additionally, he studies Psychology at Jagiellonian University. His fields of interest and research are connected with Artificial Intelligence, Affective Computing, Emotions, Video Games, Intimate Relationships and Evidence-Based Science. In his free time, he enjoys experiencing all kinds of culture.










Mateusz Szymkowski, BSc

Mateusz Szymkowski, BSc (szymkowski@agh.edu.pl) received his bachelor degree (2020) in computer science from the AGH University of Science and Technology. Currently studying and being a prefect on the System Modeling and Intelligence Data Analysis specialization.

He works as Data Scientist & Python Developer at IBM Poland Software Lab.













Artur Bugaj, BSc

Artur Bugaj, BSc (arbugaj@student.agh.edu.pl) is a Bachelor of Computer Science, on EAIiIB faculty. His main research interests are recommendation systems, and semantic similarity. He is a co-author of article presented on LENLS17 conference..
